Jesus. This video of Christian the lion reunited with his "parents" after being separated by several years in the wild just made me weepy. Here I am, on a Friday morning, sitting at my desk and getting misty eyed over human lion reunions. Well, whatever -- it's a beautiful story, so enjoy! Then you can be weepy (in a good way!) too!!

Damnit. A perfectly good excuse to eat deviled eggs shot to hell.

Well, days off have been scheduled, as well as BBQs; outfits have been laid out, and lazy beach time has been penciled in. This is what you do with a holiday weekend. You plan fun. However, Seattle, big bad abusive relationship that it is, has other plans.
Anyway, bumping along with my day today, I happened across the weather forecast for the weekend. Thunderstorms tomorrow are exciting, but then the weather pretty much bites it until the day that I return to work. Whatever, Seattle; this is why we don't get along.

Whatever Happened To... Bubbles The Chimp?

Still, airless late summer nights lend themselves to thoughts, and late night thoughts are often the ones that you shouldn't dwell upon. for instance, a passing thought on this silent and nearly stifling summer evening is "whatever happened to Bubbles The Chimp"? He was there, and then he was not. The silence surrounding the transition certainly belies what is likely a terrifying truth -- from a cancer reasearch center he came, and perhaps to a cancer research center he was dispatched.
Whatever the fate of Bubbles (and it is all merely conjecture), it is certainly no less horrifying or heartbreaking than the fate of Nim Chimpsky. No need to get into a lengthy diatribe on the ethics of animal research, and merely let that account speak for itself.
